Dragan Gačnik
Artist
"The soul discerns in matter the harmony of its own structure, and from that comes aesthetic
pleasure. In this way, intelligence observes the wonderful sight of the world and its forms:
Aspice mundum et omnia quae in es sunt: multa species et illecebrosas invenies... habet aurum... fulgorem suum, habet decor carnis speciem suam, habent picta et vestes fucatas colorem...
Look at the world and everything in it;
you will find a lot of enticing beauty... gold has... its luster, body adornment has its beautiful appearance, paintings and ornate dresses have beautiful colors...”

Umberto ECO, The Aesthetic Problem in Thomas Aquinas
With the title of the exhibition, the artist Kokotović defines and suggests the place of creative creed, the place from which she "addresses" the viewer, the consumer. It is the place of her real, mental existence. Her "studio".
In this way, she excludes her creative mind from social frameworks, historical, linguistic, ethnic, religious, territorial..., placing herself in a primary connection with our elemental, our natural habitat, our biological address.
With large, unframed formats, landscapes, she leaves them free on the surfaces of the gallery walls, suggesting to the viewer, while standing in front of Kokotovic works, there is no finality.
Dynamics and movement, which is nature itself, life basically.
The landscapes are divided into two parts. The solid upper surface of the sky and enormous mountains, and the dynamic, cacophonous lower surface, the surface of our socially "organized" life.
Contemplative, spiritual blue in all its opulence, dominating, strong, broken here and there by a few fragments of complementary orange, life-like green.
The other three large formats seem to suggest the remains of our past, the cities, cultures, and civilizations left behind, in the blue of the sea or sky.
Warm, calm, peaceful, asleep in some "distant sea", and the collage fragments, which the author skilfully uses compositionally and aesthetically in the overall composition, the unpainted painting canvas, the texture of the newspaper article, with or without the author's message, act as libraries of our past, demands respect, because they themselves are the legacy of our genetic code.
...there are "buried" treasures: the Iliad and the Odyssey, Egyptian hieroglyphs, the conquests of Alexander the Great, the Bible and the Qur'an, Aristotle, the crucified Jesus, Michelangelo... ...referring to the author's thoughts... "
that are all my journeys through the three dimensions of human existence - material, astral and causal.." Ships, sailboats are not placed in a realistic setting, a marine environment, they are only the author's suggestion to the viewer of the "journey". Levitating, unfinished like the thoughts themselves, traveling, without a starting point or an end, in a circle, in the point from which everything starts and to which everything returns.
Oils on linen, soft warm azure backgrounds and colours, framed as the author's notes of captured thoughts, memories, her state from a long time ago, childhood, fantasizing about distant travels, unknown worlds and freedom. I would conclude with the author's sculpture from the Higgs Boson cycle, Blue Triangulum.
Made of fiery pieces of steel reinforcement, its shape and colour perhaps speak best about the author, her thinking, journey, artistic work and act: Steel, industrial product, strong, solid, durable.
Blue colour of spirituality.
The downward facing triangle symbolizes the world of nature, harmony, creativity, the female principle, the principle of birth and life.
Circle symbol of eternity.
